Work Based Learning/Youth Apprenticeship are educational programs that provides students with real-life work experiences where they can apply academic and technical skills and develop employability skills.
How do students apply for the program?
This program is weighted like any elective offered here at CCHS. The student can receive up to one and a half elective credit for this class. We do have state mandated class size that we are not allowed to go over. The coordinators also visit job sites many times throughout the year to ensure that the student is successful at the job and that the employer is satisfied with the work that the student is giving. The employers also fill out evaluations several times a year on the student employee. It really is a partnership between the student, coordinator and the employer to make certain that the student and employer have the best possible experience.
- Students need to come by the WBL desk located behind the main office to pick up an application. They are also available at Counselor's Corner
- There are certain requirements that must be met for a student to accepted into the program.
- The student must be a junior or a senior and be at least 16 years old.
- The student must be on track for graduation with no credit recovery.
- The student must have little to no discipline issues and have an exemplary attendance record.
- The student must have a job that has been approved by the coordinators.
- The WBL coordinators do have great partnerships with many business and industries here in Colquitt County and may be able to place the student that is in need of a job. However, those great placements go quickly and the student would need to let the coordinators know if they need help finding a job.
